NEWS:OZPP came out in defense of the victims for the cancellation of Tokio Hotel

April 15, 2010. The Society for the Protection of Consumer Rights (www.ozpp.ru) filed a complaint with the Meshchansky court in Moscow in support of an indefinite number of consumers at the Sports Complex "Olympic."

The reason for the filing of the lawsuit was the cancellation of the concert by the German band Tokio Hotel on stage at the sports complex "Olympic" on March 10, 2010. The statement of the assistance of the artists in advance, had not been warned, before going to the event. Money back for the tickets for the victims so far none of the organizers, has returned.

Meanwhile, ticket prices ranged from half of 22 thousand rubles (vip-seats). What exactly happened to the ticket sales, it is now difficult to determine. But the death toll reaches several thousands. Only last month a dozen people complained to OZPP. The ability of the sports complex "Olympian" in Moscow is about 17 thousand spectators. And many consumers are not only losing their money for a ticket to a concert frustrated, but also spending money to those who traveled to Moscow from distant regions of Russia.

An advocacy group of consumers think that the defendant in this conflict should be the Sports Complex "Olympic." Since information on the concert tickets sold for the German, contains a single legal entity - CD "Sports complex" Olympic ". As a result, consumers could only reach the unequivocal conclusion of the organizer of the concert - the aforementioned organization.

Later, the media reported that the organizer of the concert is actually promotion agency «TOP Concert", which must bear the consequences of cancellation. But many spectators bought tickets, thinking that the entire responsibility for organizing this important event with the participation of foreign stars was a little known agency, and like the Sports Complex "Olympic." Therefore, consumers were deceived.

Note that a similar incident occurred two days earlier in St. Petersburg. There, on March 8 at the Ice Palace, a concert of the band Tokio Hotel was canceled unexpectedly. The cause of the incident by the German band, explained that it was a fundamental breach of contract by the organizers of Russia. The final statement said the perpetrators and the responsibility for the failure of the concert is for the management of artists.

The current law "On Protection of Consumer Rights" provides for severe penalties for violators of the rights of consumers. The penalty in this case may reach 100 percent of the cost of the tickets. In the case of the satisfaction of the prosecution, any consumer who has purchased a ticket for the concert can individually recover from the Sports Complex "Olympic" as well as the cost of the ticket, either, his losses and compensation for moral damages.
